NAME:
Paul Nelson
PLAYING
(YEARS): Quite a few!
STYLE:
Metal, Jazz Rock Fusion, Blues, Progressive and many more.
GEAR:
It is hard to keep track of what is used on a regular basis because of all
the different musical situations involved but here is a description of some
of the gear for studio and touring work. PEDALS:
CE-3, (2)DD-3's, TS 808, CS-3, TU-2, occasionally used as an
alternate chorus pedal is the Ibanez DZF 10, recommended by Steve Khan. The
crybaby Wha used is a vintage Thomas Organ model 95-910511 as well as a
Show-Bud volume pedal and Octave pedal. A Lexicon PCM delay unit might
occasionally be used as a substitute delay. Alternate distortion pedals may
also be used at times, such as a T10 or a Heavy Metal Pedal in conjunction
with an OD1 as a type of pre amp situation. AMPS:
Run in stereo
whenever possible. For most shows, back line is supplied and in that case
the amps of choice are Fender Twins. Alternate choices may range from Peavey
Classic 50's, Fender Concerts, Roland Jazz Chorus Amps to B.B. King L5 Amps
as well as Marshall JCM900 Heads. Depending upon the situation, these amps
might be run in a piggy-back fashion (master to slave). On recordings for
the WWF's XFL Line 6 flextones were used and in Europe the back line is
usually 2 Mesa Rectifier stacks.
ENDORSEMENTS:
Ernie Ball strings and ESP guitars, in the past Dean Markley strings and
Randall amps.
