Amidst the
current barrage of attention placed on Swedish rock bands, Acid Ape
throw one back at the mainstream and breathe life back into a US phenomenon
that has for a short time been forgotten.
Recall if you will the wunderkind of early 90's Minneapolis Am Rep and
the credibility enjoyed by the creative genius collectively assembled
in The Melvins, Unsane and the ever glorious Jesus Lizard. Lo-fi was
the moniker of the moment, but in no instance could ever describe the
musicianship contained within. For their debut, Acid Ape (also featuring
members of The Borderlines, who you will hear about soon enough), warm
up the fuzzbox, plug into the fleshy sound of the Marshall tube amp
and jam for jams sake. Are you all gusy inside yet?
"Fleshspa" will find a comfortable home amongst your early
vinyl begging for CD upgrades (as if you haven't done that yet) from
some of your faves. It is an album to plot on a musical horizon that
will no doubt shine in the years to come.
