New Jacobin Club"Retake The Throne" A while back, I reviewed a five song EP by this Misfits-style horror-rock band, and now I've been sent what appears to be their first full length release. Playing their style of creepy, spooky metal/punk/Goth rock, singing about horror themes, and dressing like they came from a movie like "House Of 1000 Corpses", these guys (and girl) appear to be celebrating Halloween every day! Anything wrong with that? Hell no! Especially since they make some kick ass music to boot, and appear to have a good bit of talent to go with their ghoulishness! Singer/guitarist The Horde howls and growls like a werewolf, and can really jam on guitar, same goes for Vlad, the other guitarist, who also sings on three of the songs. Bassist The Swarm, drummer Eclipse (who conceals himself behind a Reaper's cowl), and keyboardist Lady Arkham complete the Club's membership. all doing a good job on their respective instruments. The Lady's keyboards are a nice touch, adding a gothic, spooky feels to the music. The NJC are an original group with a cool image who've made a rocking album! Certainly a nice change from what's big in the mainstream these days! Join the New Jacobin Club (if you dare!) and help them "retake the throne" of rock and roll! |
