Sevendust

"Seasons"

Sevendust is a great band. I can't deny 'em that. But, for some reason, they're not a band that I've really been able to get into. When I hear their music, there's some stuff that I liked. Not enough to convert me to being a full blown fan. But, enough to be at least willing to give 'em a listen.

When this release came across my desk, I was interested in hearing what they had to offer this time around and, to my suprise, I was rather impressed with this album. The first track that really caught my attention was "Enemy," it's a hard hitting tune with a lot of aggression. "Broken Down" had an interesting sound. I also liked "Seperate" and the title track. "Skeleton Song" had a more laid back vibe that was pretty cool. If you want balls to the wall, "Suffocate" is the song you might be drawn to and "Face To Face," the last track on the album, drives it all home. That one and "Enemy" are probably the best of the bunch here. But, as a whole, this is an exceptionally strong album. On top of everything else, the album also comes with a bonus DVD that takes you behind the scenes during the making of the album, they talk about some of the songs, you get a bit of live stuff, interviews, stuff like that. The one thing I noticed about previous Sevendust stuff I reviewed...and it's the same with this release...the band seems to go that exta mile for the fans. When you go to a store and you buy a CD, that's pretty much what you get...a CD. You may like it, but, it's nothing to write home about. With Sevendust, you get a lot more and that's the kind of attitude that I wish a lot of other bands would have. It's all take, take, take in the music business and, with this band, it's quite the opposite. I can see why a lot of people appreciate Sevendust. Great music, great attitude. Yeah...they deliver!
