As I sat here reading through Defiled Metal Zine, which is a 32 page, newspaper print publication, I was impressed. Interviews and CD reviews are featured here, of course. They also review the classic horror movies that have been re-released on DVD. There was a very cool interview with Krista Van Guilder of Lucubro that was quite enjoyable. I know this isn't a CD review I'm writing here, but, damn, that's a cool band. Nice layout, easy to read and, once again, there's an honest attitude that's flowing through the pages, which is what I really look for when it comes to reading material. Once again, it's not the musical style that I'm really into, but, I did notice a few releases in here that I'd be more in tune with. I also noticed a rather graphic opinion of Tori Amos, who I happen to like. I did agree with their comments on her cover version of "Raining Blood" though...I wasn't impressed either. Anyway, this is a good read if you're into stuff like Testament, Achernar, Psycroptic, Broken Hope, Aeternus, Blood Red Throne and Vore, all of which are featured in this issue (and mentioned on the cover).
