MAYADOME
"NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE"
(SIEGEN RECORDS)

By Paul Autry

I guess it's safe to say that Mayodome is a progressive band because, well, that's what they sound like in my opinion. Seven songs that sound a bit like Queensryche mixed with more of their own originality. None of the songs are under five minutes long. There's some good guitar work on the album. The drums sound as if they could've been brought up in the mix more. It's a decent album that I can listen to, but, not at any length of time only because nothing really stands out for me. It's like, sure, these guys can play their instruments & on this release, it seems like they wanna show you how well. Don't get me wrong, it's very impressive musically. But, I have a really short attention span & in order to keep me listening, you pretty much have to knock my socks off. As good as "Near Life Experience" is, it just doesn't do that, knock my socks off I mean. But, I'd recommend it to anyone who asked!
