By Justine Bevan Rather transcending.....yeah this far surpasses the expected. Bubble, a band that is comprised, for the most part by people that you are already familiar with, is an example of what music was, hopefully in some capacity, still is and what it should be. This is fun, folks! Share, of Vixen fame, belts it out, and ohhhh, but good too! She also lends her hand at guitar along with Brent Muscat, who might well be known from Faster Pussycat, as is Eric Stacy; bassist. The band is rounded out by Bam, who is quite the masterful drummer, but not showy by any means. Bubble's, "How Bout' This" is fifteen tracks of phenomenon. Why, you might well ask? Well, the first four tracks, "Shake", "Don't Talk To Me", "Independently Wasted" and "All I Want" are so catchy in a pop, rock, punk sort of way that it's hard to get past them to give the others a listen. Upon realizing, hey, ya know, there are eleven more tracks to go, you hesitantly move on. It's like waiting for the other shoe to drop, only it never does! "Sex Sell$" and "Drug" are both heavy enough that you have great doubt that Share will recover from them, until she softens with "Sparklestar" and "Castle on The Hill". Each song is a departure from another, but not so much that you have to wonder, is this the same band? "Goin' Down For You" and "6000 Miles" are middle of the road, singing them long after they're over, know them like ya know your social security number, kinda songs. So, let's recap; phenomenon? Yes! Why? There's really something here for everyone, no matter what your musical preference, and that's hard to do without it sounding intentional. It is equally hard to get away from the sound that fame has already brought you once before. They, collectively, have done just that and with that same kind of eloquence that pretty girls that don't wear make-up and do wear sweat pants possess. Would it be a crime not to buy, "How Bout' This"? No, but it'd be a damn shame. Visit Bubble at: www.planetbubble.com |
