I tend to scrutinize all these tributes the last 5 years for good reasons--1)easy way to make money,2)the bands they represent on the label aren't doing well,so they have to venture to something that may sucker in any fans of a cer- tain band---etc. etc.. Deadline has put out some good re-issues which I applaud like Tiamat but they really flopped on the Warrant one since they couldn't use the actual songs and done a "rendition' of songs we know.At least they don't quite par up to Dwell's status of terrible tributes with constant songs that are slaughtered--either bad judgement by the label or a gimmick to make fun of yesterday's heroes? The last Ozzy tribute I reviewed was Olympic Records,"Leg- Of A Madman" which I enjoyed very much even though 4 songs were somewhat destroyed but that's my opinion and to me if you're going to cover a supergroup,do it serious and somewhat understandable.This Deadline release can be proud and be right up there in the tribute great- ness like Magna Carta Records with more well- known and "serious" musicians. Try to imagine "Ripper" Owens teaming up with Yngwie and co. for "Mr.Crowley" or "Goodbye To Romance"--Lisa Loeb and Dweezil Zappa, Lemmy teaming up with Ritchie Kotzen for "Desire",Vince Neil and George Lynch covering "Paranoid" and the dynamic teaming-up of Jack Blades,Reb Beach,Jeff Pilson,Bobby Blotzer and Paul Taylor for "I Don't know"--you get the idea!! Every song is done well and there's 11. The only gripe I have is Deadline must of been in such a hurry,they have all the songs mixed up that are printed on the CD and the packag- ing to get this thing out!!! Good thing it wasn't a Argent or Focus tribute or we'd be sitting here for 2 years trying to figure which song is which! If you like the more serious compilations like I do,this one is definately worth getting your hands on!!!! One of the best I've heard in recent.
