Coldfire's debut, self-titled CD is impressive, especially once I found out they were high school students. The song writing is relatively standard but the musicianship is impressive. There is only room for growth in Coldfire and I would be very interested in hearing the second CD after the band has had time to wrok together and mature. My biggest complaint about the CD would have to be the lyrics. For example, the chorus to "Castles in the Sky" is "Castles in the sky/Don't be afraid to build them to highâ?¦" The production on the CD is pretty good and makes it easy to listen to. For an independent band, Coldfire has put out a well-above average CD with solid music writing and good playing. Contact: www.coldfirerock.com
