Roxx Gang

Roxx Gang have been
around for quite awhile. They were one of the
bands who came along in the late 80's and tried to ride the crest of
the "hair metal" wave that was happening at the time, but they
got in
just a bit too late and were unable to gain the fame and fortune of
their mousse abusing compatriots. However, unlike many of the mousse
abusers who did achieve fame and fortune, Roxx Gang are still "roxxing"
today! They're one of those bands that just refuses to quit! And
frankly, who'd want them to? They sure know how to crank out some
cool tunes! "Bodacious Ta Ta's" (don't you just love their
subtlety?) is
actually a compilation of the Gang's songs, spanning their entire
recording career, plus one new one, a bluesy little number called
"Spoonful", which ends the album. Roxx Gang plays raunchy,
bluesy,
straight-forward rock and roll, like Aerosmith meets Poison. Some
tunes that really smoke are "Scratch My Back", "Too Cool
For School",
"Time Bomb", "Hot For Love", and "Daddy's
Farm". Their later material is
particularly blues heavy, with songs like "Mojo Guru",
"Tiger Lily",
"Dogtown", "Strawberry Wine", and "Who's Been
Driving My Cadillac",
where they use horns, harmonica, and honky-tonk piano. And of course,
there has to be one ballad, and that would be "Red Rose", from
their
first album. All the songs are rockin', raunchy, and fun. Not only that,
but the Roxxies can actually play, too. They are decent musicians, and
good at what they do. I also admire their tenacity, sticking with their
style even when the musical climate doesn't favor it. They're probably
one of those bands that will never stop rocking until the day they
die. Let's hope so! The world will always need bands like this,
playing rock and roll the way it was meant to be and keeping it fun!
Roxx on forever, Roxx Gang! The disc also contains an uncensored
CD-ROM video for "Star Trip", which I have yet to check out,
but it
should be cool.
