Incubus's Brandon Boyd and Mike Einziger have more than their own enormous success to be proud of. Both of their brothers (Jason Boyd & Ben Einziger) have now released their Atlantic Records debut, 'Dirty, Sexy, Knights in Paris' and their band Audiovent has been earning mucho kudos from both fans and critics alike. "I'm real proud of those guys and I think they're gonna do really well," says Mike Einzinger. "They're just on their first record but, I think they're gonna grow on you a lot and over a long period of time.

Although Audiovent are also proud to have relations to their Incubus brothers they do want to earn their stripes without any of their help. "They get a hard time just because their our brothers," says the elder Einziger, "they want to get out there and do it on their own and I know they can do it." Audiovent has already proven worthy and made a name for themselves within their local club circuit of Calabasas, California. They know what they want and are set and determined to broaden their musical horizons, their goal says drummer drummer Jamin Wilcox, is to "conquer the rest of America."

The rock and roll quartet has been making music together for nearly a decade and their concrete-like bond is reflected directly in their tightly woven, intense and multi-textured sound. It all began when they were just a bunch of kids. "We started the band at ages 14 and 15," says Wilcox. "We had only played our instruments for six months, individually, before becoming an official cohesive band." "It took us at least four years to become skilled musicians." Wilcox continues, "After about four years of playing together, we began to develop our songwriting, in a more serious manner. We were finding ourselves, delving into many different styles along the way. We would play straight metal in the beginning. Groups like Metallica, Megadeath, Slayer were our initial influences. However, at the same time, we were very into Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice and Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Then a few years later we got very involved with funk music. Bands like the Meters, Stanley Clark, Sly and the family stone, and many others took us into another direction. Of coarse, when we discovered the Deftones and Korn, on their first records, we were blown away. So, we went into many different musical directions trying to find ourselves. However, we have been focused on different bands for the last three years. Just now, are we really at a point of knowing who we are musically." Inspired by a rather wide variety of rock music both old and nü, Audiovent delved full force into the art of songwriting and sound experimentation. Tracks like the album-opening "The Energy" and the hypnotic "Rain" exalt an impetuous melody as well as an inventive rhythmic approach which signifies the band's goal of taking their music towards the next level and conquering America. "We all contribute to the writing process. I write a lot of our melodies and a good portion of the music as well. Ben will contribute to the melody writing and even more so to the music writing," Wilcox explains. "We are all inspired by The Beatles, first and foremost they never cease to blow our minds. Nirvana, are a big inspiration for direct songwriting as well. The lyrical content in our songs, are all emotions that we all feel as a band. Hence, we VENT our emotions into our songwriting." Audiovent, who also includes bassist Paul Fried, are hoping to become an enormous commercial success possibly overthrowing their brothers in Incubus. Only time will tell if their straight-ahead rock vibe will prove them worthy of radio dominace and TRL prominence. Says Wilcox; "I like to think of our music as commercially viable, yet retaining depth and substance. Many bands cannot achieve a balance. They are either way too pop or way to abstract..
