Thor
"An-Thor-Logy 1976-1985""

by Paul Autry

Thor goes deep into his own personal archives to bring you some rare footage from the first two decades of his career, starting with news clips from 1979 and ending with a video for "Knock 'Em Down," which was released in 1985. Everything in between is a treat. Watching Thor blow up a hot water bottle on Merv Griffin in 1976 was kind of cool. Well, let's be honest...it was kind of cheesy. Then again, Thor never took himself too seriously, which is probably why he's been around for 30 years. Regardless of what you might find cheesy, one thing becomes perfectly clear as you're watching this footage...Thor is simply having a good time entertaining people...and entertain he does. There's so much great stuff on here...live footage, videos, interviews. My only complaint is that he didn't include "Thunderhawk," which was, in my opinion, one of the greatest tunes he ever did. Near the tail end of the program, there's also some television commercials he's done, including one for Chevy. That's probably some rare footage there. Other items of note is his appearance on the Uncle Floyd show in 1982 and the video for "Keep The Dogs Away," which takes you back to the year 1977. As mentioned above, there's also a video for "Glimmer," which features Thor performing in a bar, surrounded by a lot of pretty women. I believe this was from a 2005 movie called "Murder At The Presidio," featuring Lou Diamond Phillips and Jason Priestly, both of which you can see in the video.

I also get the feeling that the footage that's featured on this release is just the tip of the iceburg. I'm sure there's a lot of additional footage in Thor's personal archives. Hopefully, Thor will share it with the rest of the world. Until then, the footage on "An-Thor-Logy" should be enough to hold you over.
