Lock your doors, leave your night lights on...Cradle Of Filth, the band who epitomizes all that is evil, have a new VHS home video/DVD out now! Cradle Of Filth (who make Marilyn Manson look like the Peanuts Gang!) have become a very popular attraction on the underground metal scene over the past few years, and this, I believe, is their first home video/DVD. It features the band performing live at Nottingham's Rock City in England (Cradle's home country) on April 14 of last year. The band plays many of their popular songs, such as "Lord Abortion", "From The Cradle To Enslave", "Dusk And Her Embrace", "The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh", "Her Ghost In The Fog", etc., plus the concert features a few gimmicks, like stilt walkers and "freaks" from the Circus Of Horrors, who attack singer Dani Filth as the band is performing "Summer Dying Fast", and slit his throat! It may be easy for one to dismiss Cradle Of Filth, at first glance, as a gimmick band or a circus act, a la Marilyn Manson, but hearing and seeing them performing live should quickly dismiss that thought. They are, in fact, quite a talented and original band, who play well, and sound and look good live, kicking ass all the way! Their music is heavy and aggressive, dark and scary, very influenced by 80's thrash metal. This video alone can prove that there is more to this band that just a scary image; they have a lot to offer in terms of music and performance, and they can actually play! Unlike most of the funhouse-from-hell/circus sideshow type bands overabundant on the scene today, who really only look scary and play music that is quite tame and cheesy, Cradle Of Filth appear to be the real deal, having more talent and whoop ass in their little fingers than most of those other bands do in their whole bodies! The gimmicks the band uses in the concert aren't really necessary, their performance alone proves the band's worth. After the concert part, there are two promo clips, for the songs "Born In A Burial Gown" and "Scorched Earth Erotica". They are both sick, twisted, and bizarre horror pieces...of course! What else would you expect from Cradle Of Filth? The former video features the Circus once again, which Dani and the Filthy Boys transform a pretty young girl into a hideous demon step by step! I guess you could say they give her a "hell" of a makeover! The latter vid features shocking shenanigans at a mental hospital! And that's the video. Fans of Cradle Of Filth should eat this up! It's everything they could ask for in the band, and is something to tide them over until their next album comes out.
